- Sunday Worship Service: 10:30am-12:00pm
- Kid's Church: 11:00am-12:00pm
We consume every day. Our world is filled with an "It's all about me" mentality. What's in it for me? What can I gain from this? How will it make me feel?
I'll be blunt, the minute that we
...enter the church parking lot
...walk through the front door of the church
...approach the greeter in the lobby
...find our usual seat in the sanctuary
...sing corporate worship songs
...give during the offering
...listen to the pastor's message
with this "me" mentality, we are dishonoring God.
During our service last week, we sang a song by Matt Redman called "The Heart of Worship." What is the heart of worship? It is our hearts delighting in Jesus and praising him for all that God has done and continues to do in our lives, no matter what our present circumstance.
As Christ-followers, we are called to worship God, in everything we do, in spirit and in truth. John 4:24, "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
The challenge for us then, not only during our weekly church service, but throughout the week, is to approach God in reverence, offering our full heart as a participant, and fully engaging with God as a worshiper.
Are you willing to take on that challenge?
